During this 1-, 2- or 3 days tour from Samaipata you will follow the last steps of the legendary Ché Guevara in Bolivia.
On the 1 day tour you will get to see all places of interest in Vallegrande.
If you choose to go on a 2- or 3 days tour you continue and stay overnight in La Higuera.

We also offer a 3 days tour from Sa. Cruz. The 1st night you will stay overnight in Vallegrande then, the 2nd night in La Higuera and on the last day you will return to Sa. Cruz or Samaipata.
In the pleasant town of Vallegrande you will visit the excellent museum, which contains a huge collection of photos of El Ché.
Further you will go to the Señor de Malta hospital, where Ché´s corpse was exposed to the world press and the people on a laundry basin after he was executed, and where the text of his last letter to his children is copied on a wall.
Also you will visit the graveyard of Ché and his combatants.
Mausoleum
Between Vallegrande and La Higuera lies the authentic village of Pucará. On the way we use to see condors many times.
Authentic village of Pucará In Pucará we will make a stop so you can walk through the small streets and take some photos.

Then we continue to La Higuera, the place where Ché got executed. This happened in the school building of La Higuera, in which a small museum is established now.
On the Plaza in La Higuera you can admire a small old bust of Ché and a big newer bust that has been placed there 30 years after his execution.
Since October 2007 there is also a new statue of Ché there to been seen which has been unveiled under big attention.
Hostal in La Higuera
You will have a romantic dinner at candle light -because of the lack of electricity- and sleep in La Higuera.

The hostal has a very pleasant atmosphere. It has been restored with original materials and in the authentic style. You can have a hot shower here as well because it is on gas!

We will make a walk of about 4 hours to the Quebrada del Churo where you will see the place where Ché was hiding for the army.
We will let the sequence of visits to the places of interest depend on the day you start your tour and the opening hours of the museum in Vallegrande. In this way we can make sure that you will get to see all mentioned places.
It´s also possible to go on a 3 days tour. Then you can hike more and get to see the cave where Ché spent his last night in freedom.
Or, if you´re in La Higuera on a Friday, you can visit a small market set up for the farmers in the region and do a hike to an old watermill that´s still in use to grind corn.

Tourists seldom come to this area and local people will be surprised to meet you.

There will also be the option to go downhill biking to the Río Grande, where you can swim and relax.


Tip:
If you want to include Sucre in your itinerary as well, this tour is part of the Old Trade Road to or from Sucre in 3 or 4 days!
