  • La Yunga, National Park Amboró; a relative easy hike of approximately 2 or 4 hours at your choice, through the fairytale landscape of giant fern tree forests of La Yunga. A part of the hike leads over a wooden platform and steps, made by the local people. We have our pack lunch at a viewpoint.

  • Bella Vista, a hike of 6 to 7 hrs; one of the better one day tours in the area because of the variety of landscapes; subtropical forest, waterfalls and fantastic views.

  • Condor Hike, a hike of 6 hrs; this hike will cost you some effort because you need to hike up about three hours but then you will most certainly see condors circling close above you or resting on the rocks, while you are having your lunch.

  • La Pajcha waterfall & hike; a visit to a local family in the countryside, followed by a refreshing plunge in the water of the most beautiful waterfall in the surroundings and if you wish a walk of more or less 2 hrs in the area.

  • Laguna Volcán; the hike of 5 hrs starts at the lagoon. You will get to see a miraculous shaped and colourful landscape. After a going down part you will follow and ford a river several times.

  • Mataral, ancient rock paintings & cactus desert; after a walk of about 1½ hrs through the cactus desert we arrive at the cave with the rock paintings. In the ceiling of the cave live vampire bats that you can see by the light of a torch.

Over 200 species of birds, 100 species of orchids and bromeliads are identified. The puma, other wild cats and the tapir live in this area. The agouti, the armadillo, the coati, the skunk, monkeys and other mammals live here in abundance!! The area in which the beautiful colonial style lodge is situated is truly unique.     • 1st day:
      arrival at the prestine Refuge and the opportunity to have a refreshing plunge in the water of the waterfall that is located directly next to the lodge. After lunch a hike in the area of the colonial lodge.
    • 2nd day:
      a day hike or two half day hikes at your choice through the unique area with the guide, for instance to a 100 m high waterfall. Relaxing is possible as well of course!
    • 3rd day:
      in the morning a hike and after lunch in the afternoon back to Samaipata.
