The Salar de Uyuni is the biggest tourist attraction of Bolivia. Marvellous views, exceptional landscapes, it`s flora and fauna, volcanoes and much more is the reason for this. With a surface of 10,500 kmē the Salar the Uyuni is the biggest salt flat in the world, consisting of eleven layers of salt from different thickness. The salt flat has a depth of 120 m. and holds an enormous wealth of minerals. The average day temperature is 20° while the average night temperature is
-25°.
In the Salar de Uyuni there are some islands situated. Two of them, Isla del Pescado, that has sthe shape of a fish, and Incahuasi are both grown over with a huge quantity of a type of cactus that gets to 10 m. high.

1 day tour:
- Salar de Uyuni; you will depart at half ten in the morning to go on this wonderful tour to the Salar de Uyuni.
After half an hour you will come to the village of Colchani, where you can see handicrafts made of salt, as well as the process of making domestic salt and the Salt Museum.
Then you will enter the salt lake and you will visit the Ojos del Salar; here bubbling gases escape from underneath the salt flat, the Salt Hotel and Isla del Pescado (Incahuasi), where you will have the opportunity to go for a short walk to observe giant cacti and volcanic rocks.
In the afternoon you will cross the salt flat again for one hour and near Uyuni you will visit the Train Cemetery, where you can see antique English trains that where brought to Bolivia many years ago and that are no longer in use. If there´s enough time, this depends on the pace of the group, you can visit a little village under the Volcano Tunupa (5,340 m). The tour will end round about six.

2 days tour:
- Salar de Uyuni (basic tour in group or private ór luxury tour, private); on the first day you will visit the Train Cemetery. In Colchani you will see the process of manufacturing domestic salt and handicrafts made out of salt. On the Salt flats of Uyuni you will visit the Ojos del Salar; here bubbling gases escape from underneath the salt flat, the Salt Hotel and Incahuasi where you can go for a short walk to observe giant cacti and volcanic rocks. Here you will have lunch. Next stop will be at the base of the Tunupa Volcano. You will spend the night in Tahua (private tour: good hotel) or Coquesa Village (basic tour; basic lodging).
The views are amazing; you might even spot flamingos between the lamas, just outside the village, and there´s silence everywhere!
If you choose to make a private tour, you will pay a visit to local families, and you will get informed about people´s work and life on the salt flats.
The company owner is from this place and will show you the real Typical Bolivian life in the country side! This part of the tour has not been set-up for big scale tourism.
On the second day you will visit the archaeological site of chullpares, pre Inca mummies, and make a short hike to see the Salt flats.
You will be back in Uyuni in the late afternoon.

You will also visit the Siloli Desert and the Stone tree; a rock formation of over eight meters high. You will spend the night in a basic lodge at Red Lagoon.
The departure on the third day will be very early, to watch the sunrise at Red Lagoon. You will visit the geysers, the Green Lagoon and the Licancabur Volcano and you will have the opportunity to go to the hot springs. On the way back to Uyuni you will visit the Valley of the Rocks and the Train Cemetery. You will arrive in Uyuni in time to catch the night bus to La Paz or Potosí.
On the luxury private tour you will sleep in the Salt Hotel of Tahua and in a better hotel in Ojo de Perdiz.
